Gov Abba Kabir Yusuf
The Governor of Kano State, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has declared the immediate removal of the caretaker chairmen across all 44 local government areas.
This announcement was made in a statement from the Governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Bature.
This decision follows a recent approval by the state House of Assembly to extend their terms for an additional two months, which was meant to last until September 8.
The purpose of this extension was to maintain stability in local governance.
Local government elections are set to occur on October 26.
In his directive, Gov. Yusuf instructed the caretaker chairmen to transfer their responsibilities to the Directors of Personnel Management within their localities.
“This action affects all chairmen, vice chairmen, secretaries, and councillors,” he emphasized.
The Governor expressed appreciation for the contributions made by the caretaker chairmen towards the progress of their communities and hinted at possible future collaborations.
