Kylian Mbappe Records Brace, Assist in First Match as Captain

Kylian Mbappe had a great first match as captain of France, leading the team to a 4-0 victory over the Netherlands on Friday night in their UEFA EURO 2024 qualification campaign. Antoine Griezmann opened the scoring two minutes into the game with a left-footed strike off an Mbappe pass. Dayot Upamecano doubled the French advantage five minutes later, capitalizing on a goalkeeping blunder from Jasper Cillessen. Mbappe then scored on a solo-effort goal in the 21st minute and again in the 88th minute to seal the match. Near the end of the match, Memphis Depay missed a penalty for the Dutch, giving them a disappointing result. France will travel to Dublin to face Ireland on Monday, March 27, while the Netherlands will host Gibraltar in Rotterdam.
