Sunday Umeha, who served as a Labour Party representative for the Udi/Ezeagu Federal Constituency in Enugu State, has officially joined the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The announcement of his shift to the ruling APC took place over the weekend during a small rally held in Ibagwa-Aka, within the Igboeze South Local Government Area.
Umeha attributed his move to the ongoing leadership challenges within the Labour Party.
He also revealed plans for another event that will formally introduce him to the APC, scheduled to occur shortly in Ezeagu.
His goal, he stated, is to strengthen connections between the constituents of Udi and Ezeagu and the central government.
“I aim to forge closer ties with the center as there are significant benefits to be gained from this relationship,” he explained.
Umeha highlighted several key projects initiated by the APC administration in Igbo land, including the Enugu-Onitsha Expressway, the Enugu-Port Harcourt Expressway, and the Second Niger Bridge.
Citing reports from the Nation, Uche Nnaji, the APC leader in Enugu State and Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, who was represented by his deputy in the 2023 elections, George Ogara, praised Umeha for his decision.
Upon welcoming the new members, Enugu State APC Chairman, Ugochukwu Agballa, expressed that the party is gearing up to win the state government seat, the Lion Building, from the PDP in the upcoming 2027 elections.
