Two individuals, aged 35 and 32, named Adamu Alhaji Bamu and Manu Alhaji Bamu, have been taken into custody by the Adamawa State Police Command for the alleged murder of a man named Umaru, whom they accused of practicing witchcraft.
These suspects hail from Kila village in Toungo local government area of Adamawa State. SP Suleiman Nguroje, the spokesperson for the state police command, confirmed the arrests, stating that the suspects have both admitted to their involvement in the crime.
Adamu recounted the episode, claiming that the deceased was not initially a witch but was introduced to it after losing all his cattle. He alleged that Umaru had disclosed his intent to acquire witchcraft to kill his father and inherit his livestock.
According to Adamu, after failing to execute his plan to eliminate his father, Umaru purportedly started bewitching Adamu’s children. Adamu asserted that Umaru was responsible for the deaths of his daughter Hurera and another individual named Mumuni. Adamu admitted to taking Umaru’s life and expressed no remorse for his actions.
The suspect confessed to striking Umaru four times with a machete, while his brothers used sticks to beat him, resulting in his fatality.
