Miley Cyrus Hates This Part of Christmas

It’s Christmas time once again, and the hustle and bustle of holiday shopping are increasing as the festive day draws near. The lights, the music playing everywhere you go, and wrapped packages herald in this wonderful season.

But, not everyone is happy at this time of year. One person — namely Miley Cyrus — has openly shared that she doesn’t like the holidays and here’s why:

Why does the Christmas season bring Miley Cyrus down?

A few years ago, Heat World reported Cyrus posted her opinion of the Christmas season on Instagram, explaining that this time of year always got her down. The holidays, she said, became more about “excessiveness and greed,” and less about the true meaning of Christmas.

When you think about it, we do spend a lot of money buying gifts for our friends, family, co-workers, and neighbors. We stress ourselves out trying to find the ‘perfect’ present to give, and sometimes, we just can’t find satisfaction with our purchases.

What happened to the good old days when we couldn’t wait to see our loved ones as the holiday rolled around? When gift-giving was just an expression of our love towards one another to show we’re thinking of them? Now, it’s endless pressure, fighting the crowds, trying to catch a good deal just to get something to wrap and give to someone on your list.

We went from offering small tokens of our affection to presents that cost hundreds of dollars. This gift-giving era stole the real meaning of Christmas time.

What would Miley Cyrus change about the festive season?

Cyrus’ family always made holidays about others and not about the gifts you get. Daily Mail shared an article of Cyrus sharing throwbacks of Christmas cheer.

In one of them, an interviewer asked a very young Cyrus what she wanted for Christmas. While most kids her age would’ve asked for many toys, like dolls, guitars, or makeup sets. She simply said that all she wanted was for her dad, Billy Ray Cyrus, to be there.

Having her father with them — at a time when he was touring — was more important to her. So, it appears, she always knew the true meaning of the holidays.

Fast forward several years, and Cyrus is still proclaiming a similar message to her fans. She wants the festive season to be about spending time with friends and family and having a love for others who may not have gotten the items they wanted for Christmas.

She says nothing about running out and spending money to ‘buy’ the love from those closest to you. To show you really care, focus on spending time with them, instead.

Should we get on board with Miley Cyrus’ views of Christmas?

We should get on board with her view of the holidays. Christmas was always about giving, but that doesn’t mean giving expensive gifts to people to make yourself feel better or to get them to like you.

Give of yourself and of your time. Those gifts will mean much more to most people than spendy items that might sit in a cupboard, collecting dust once the season is over.

A few people have said something similar over the years, but it’s refreshing to see this wholesome attitude from a celebrity. A young one at that.

It’s also nice to know that despite her dad’s fame and even hers, Cyrus still grew up in a loving home that taught good values that lasted throughout her teenage years and into her twenties.
