Miranda Lambert is one of the most popular country singers of the last ten years. On top of that, she’s also had an interesting and well-publicized personal life. It’s no wonder fans are interested in her marriage.
Because she’s a songwriter who writes from experience, Lambert’s relationship with her husband, Brendan McLoughlin, has informed her music. This raises a question: Does Lambert’s husband like one of her songs in particular? Here’s the underappreciated album cut her husband always asks her to sing.
One of Brendan McLoughlin’s favorite songs
Wildcard, Lambert’s newest album, was well-received by fans. They appreciated the personal nature of the album’s lyrics. One of the personal tracks on the album is “How Dare You Love.” Rolling Stone reports the song is a ballad about McLoughlin which Lambert wrote with fellow songwriters Jamie Kinney and Ashley Monrie.
According to Fox News, Lambert said “How Dare You Love” is one of her husband’s favorite songs. “He requests it all the time, and I never do it. He’s actually a really good person to bounce things off because he loves mainstream music of all kinds. He really cares about music, but doesn’t have the business part of it, which is nice sometimes. But he loves this song, so I figure, hopefully, other people do.”
Lambert previously discussed “How Dare You Love” in an interview with Taste of Country. The interviewer, Billy Dukes, said he felt the track wasn’t receiving as much attention as it deserved. Lambert agreed.

She explained why she likes “How Dare You Love.” “That’s a special one. I haven’t written a lot of love songs in my career, maybe one on each album, maybe? So I feel like that one is definitely a stand out on this record because it is a pretty good ode to love.”
What inspired Miranda Lambert to write ‘How Dare You Love’
Lambert noted how her whirlwind romance with her husband was not a huge influence on Wildcard. She also said that Wildcard wasn’t exactly a “happy album.” Since “How Dare You Love” is one of the few songs on the album which reflects McLoughlin’s relationship with Lambert, it’s no surprise he would gravitate towards it.
Dukes asked Lambert what inspired her to write the song. She said a bottle of wine helped to get her and her collaborators’ creative juices flowing. She said she, Kinney, and Monroe started getting to know each other by discussing each other’s love lives. Lambert said she spontaneously came up with the song’s title and then she and her co-writers formed a full song based on it. She also said much of the songs she wrote with Kinney and Monroe were influenced by their romantic relationships.
“How Dare You Love” is a fan favorite track from the album. Apparently, it’s also one of McLoughlin’s favorites. That’s a big deal, as McLaughlin might just be one of Lambert’s biggest fans.
