Miranda Lambert is one of country music’s most celebrated singer/songwriters. She has been active in the industry since the early 2000’s and is known for releasing hit songs like “Gunpowder & Lead,” “White Liar,” “Over You,” and “Vice.”
Lambert definitely has a lot of skills when it comes to writing her own music. As with many artists, Lambert also has some things she does in order to help her continue being creative. Read on below to find out what strange thing Lambert did while writing songs for her most recent album.
Miranda Lambert released her new album ‘Wildcard’ in November 2019
Lambert released her seventh studio album, Wildcard, in November 2019. The album went on to reach number 1 on the U.S. Country chart and number 4 on the Billboard 200.
Her previous record, The Weight of These Wings, was released after her public divorce with Blake Shelton. As such, the songs on it had a lot of honest, raw emotions about dealing with a breakup. However, Lambert has admitted that Wildcard was written during a much happier time in her life, which can be felt through its more upbeat tracks.
“I usually write from my life so being happy and writing from a happy perspective was different than I had in a couple of records,” she said.
Before the release of Wildcard, Lambert’s lead single “It All Comes Out in the Wash” came out in July 2019. It peaked at number 12 on the U.S. Country chart and number 70 on the Billboard Hot 100.
She also released the song “Bluebird” as a single in December 2019, though it did not chart as high as the first single.
Miranda Lambert covered up all her awards while writing songs for ‘Wildcard’
Wildcard is surely a big album for Lambert, and she revealed that she did something interesting while writing songs for it.
She shared in an interview with Taste of Country: “When I was writing this album, I hung tapestries all over the walls to cover [all my awards] ’cause I was like, ‘That’s great, but that’s in the past. I gotta keep moving forward.’”
Of course, Lambert does not feel any shame about her past awards. The singer shared that they are “a good reminder” of how far she’s come in her career, but she simply did not want her previous success to keep her from continuing to be better at her craft.
Miranda Lambert also does not like showing off her awards
Anyone who is lucky enough to visit Lambert’s home also should not expect her to show off her dozens of awards.
Lambert revealed to Taste of Country that she keeps them in her special music room. However, she often keeps the doors to said room closed.
“I don’t care about [showing the awards off],” Lambert said. “My in-laws are in town right now and I always have the doors closed, and my mother-in-law said, ‘Well, you should show this off. You worked so hard.’”
However, Lambert clarified that “it’s really nice to have all of that,” but it’s not the most important thing in the world to let everyone know about which awards she has won.
Miranda Lambert is currently on tour
Lambert is currently on her Wildcard tour to support the album. It started on January 16, 2020 and will end on May 9, 2020.
This tour is also special in that it is completely women-led. Alongside Lambert are other female singers like Maren Morris, Elle King, Ashley McBryde, Caylee Hammack, Tenille Townes, and Lambert’s band, The Pistol Annies.
Lambert is hoping that this tour will help uplift women in country music. She told Ticketmaster: “I’ve been doing this for a really long time and it’s not an easy fight, but I feel like the tide is turning and the tour is just gonna help that even more.”
