Outside of her popular country songs, Miranda Lambert is mostly known for her dramatic personal life, including her marriage to Brendan McLoughlin. The country singer just revealed what could have torn her relationship with McLoughlin apart. Here’s what she had to say.
When Miranda Lambert first met Brendan McLoughlin
According to Fox News, Lambert said “When I first met him, I realized I looked a little bit like a crazy dog lady. Which is fine with me, because that’s what I am. I was like, ‘Hey, if you don’t like dogs, that’s kind of a deal-breaker.’”
Lambert’s description of herself as a “crazy dog lady” seems apt. According to Taste of Country, she once said “Honestly when I search ‘dog’ in my phone 1,396 pictures come up.” Most people have at least a little fondness for dogs, but Lambert takes things to a whole other level. She’s also admitted to being fond of “horses, kitties and bunnies,” who are also well represented on her phone.
Apparently, Lambert’s love for animals did not drive a wedge between her and McLoughlin. Lambert said “He actually loves [the dogs] to death.” McLoughlin is a lucky man. He found the woman of his dreams and got some great pets at the same time!
Why Miranda Lambert started an animal foundation
Dogs seem to be a major part of Lambert’s life. She told PopCulture “I’m basically pretty simple. It comes down to music and mutts. That’s kind of my life. So when I can combine the two, I’m a happy woman.” Not only can she combine music and mutts, she can combine romance and mutts as well!
According to Yahoo! Entertainment, Lambert explained why she created her animal foundation, Mutt Nation. According to Taste of Country, Mutt Nation is dedicated to helping shelter pets find homes. “When you finally get to a place in your career, where people are paying attention you have to decide what you wanna use your platform for. And I just knew right away it was gonna be dogs.”
How she feels about Mutt Nation
Lambert continued “I’ve grown up with dogs my whole life and strays and people just dumping them off. I grew up in the country so my mom and I started Mutt Nation. And it was just kind of a mom and pop operation and now we’re 10 years later, four million dollars later, and thousands of dogs adopted.”
Discussing Mutt Nation, Lambert said “We’ve done so much but I also feel like we’re just getting started. You know I feel like there’s so much work ahead of us. But we’ve been able to help with natural disasters and help shelters renovate. We kind of have our hand in everything and that’s why we wanted to start it because we wanted control of where the money that we raise could go to.”
When people look for romantic partners, they often try to find people with similar interests. Lambert and McLoughlin seem to have a shared love for canines. That’s doggone adorable.
