Simenyiwe MaDlomo Zondo, the wife of a well-known South African politician, has revealed that she is in a safe location after being reported missing, and has accused her husband of abuse.
Her family, including her husband Sanele Zondo, Chairperson of the IFP Youth Brigade, and her father Nkosinathi Dlomo, reported her missing to the police on August 16, 2024, fearing the worst. She had informed her husband that she was going shopping in Richards Bay before losing contact.
In a live Instagram stream on August 21, MaDlomo confirmed her safety and shared graphic details of the abuse she allegedly endured in her marriage.
She recounted instances of emotional and physical abuse by her husband, including being chased and slapped multiple times until she cried. MaDlomo also claimed that when she threatened to involve the police, her husband retaliated and prevented her from filing a report.
Zondo denied the abuse allegations, stating that he was the one who had been physically harmed by his wife. He mentioned that discussions between their families regarding the accusations were yet to take place as MaDlomo left before the meeting.
MaDlomo stated that she tried to report the abuse to the police, but upon returning home, she was barred entry by her mother-in-law, who accused her of mistreating her son and not contributing financially to the household.
Her father, Dlomo, who was aware of the situation, expressed the importance of both families coming together to address the allegations and find a resolution.
Despite Zondo claiming that he was trying to contact MaDlomo, she asserted that he had been ignoring her calls, and her father had not been supportive of her claims about her husband’s behavior.
As MaDlomo’s father continues to search for her, Zondo plans to hold a press briefing to present his side of the story regarding the accusations made against him.
