Keneiwe Portia Shabala, a 32-year-old woman from South Africa, is facing serious allegations related to her two-year-old son, Kutlwano. She was taken to court on November 25, 2024, in Vanderbijlpark, Gauteng, where she is charged with human trafficking, conspiring to commit robbery, and filing a false police report.
The accusations began when, on November 10, 2024, she purportedly sold her son to unknown individuals.
According to the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), three days later, she reported to the police that her son had been abducted by strangers in a vehicle. This claim, however, was later revealed to be fabricated, which she admitted during the investigation.
Shabala was arrested on November 19, 2024, and has remained in custody since. Authorities continue to search for the missing child, whose location is currently unknown.
The court case has been adjourned until November 29, 2024, when a potential bail application will be discussed. The prosecution plans to object to any bail being granted.
