NAFDAC officials conducted a successful operation based on intelligence, discovering a facility where a 20ft container of unregistered carbonated beverages was being unloaded.

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) recently carried out a raid in Oke-Afa, Okota, Lagos, where they found unregistered and expired products.

This information was shared in an announcement made on X.com (formerly Twitter) on November 20.

Responding to reliable intelligence, NAFDAC raided the facility and intercepted the unloading of a container filled with unauthorized carbonated drinks.

Upon thorough examination, officials discovered 14 rooms filled with unregistered and expired products, some of which were tainted by rodent activity due to inadequate storage conditions.

The statement from NAFDAC mentioned: “We have identified a warehouse in Oke-Afa, Okota, Lagos, containing unregistered and expired items from supermarkets.

“Based on intelligence, our team conducted a raid and caught the operators in the act of unloading a 20ft container of unauthorized carbonated beverages.”

“An extensive inspection revealed over 14 rooms brimming with unregistered and expired items, with some evidence of rat contamination, indicating poor storage practices.”

“The operations at this facility are now halted, and all activities are suspended pending further inquiry. NAFDAC has requested the management to provide proof of sourcing, including the Global Listing for Supermarket Items (GLSI) certificate.”
