A Ghanaian Man Celebrates His Supportive Wife in Polygamy
Alhaji Ali Kamal, a man from Ghana, has expressed his gratitude towards his first wife for embracing his choice of entering a polygamous marriage.
In a Facebook update on Friday, he shared that she not only accepted his decision to marry a second woman but also welcomed the new wife openly.
Kamal noted that he did not pressure her to attend the wedding, yet she chose to wear matching attire with the second wife and accompanied him to the ceremony.
He encouraged women to respect their husband’s desires if they choose to take additional wives, warning that resistance may lead to humiliation.
“Many people tell me I’m doing polygamy well and treating my wife with respect. But I believe it’s my wife who deserves the praise. She understood my wishes and never opposed them,” he wrote.
“Her respect for herself and for me is evident. She constantly reassures me that I can make my own choices and that whomever I decide to marry, she will accept as a co-wife. Despite my newer wife being younger and potentially in a position to compete, my first wife chose not to engage in conflicts. It gives me comfort knowing I have her support and love. I even discussed the wedding date with her before informing my parents. She chose to accompany me because I advocate for polygamy.
“Although some might assume she was unhappy, she simply wanted to avoid my sadness. I never insisted she follow me; she willingly wore the same outfit as my second wife. Even the second wife’s shoes were purchased by my first wife and me in Kumasi before we delivered them in Accra. Everything was done with simplicity and goodwill. If a woman respects her man, she should respect his choices and allow him the freedom to marry as he wishes. Fighting back will only lead to regret and embarrassment.
“Many women advised my wife against supporting my decision and discouraged her from associating with my second wife. Yet, she calmly informed me of their remarks and showed me their messages. Now, they’re embarrassed, but we disregard their opinions. Polygamy is a choice, and you can interpret this information as you wish. Feel free to share it,” he concluded.
