Sixteen people who were taken captive by terrorists were delivered to the Zamfara State Government. The individuals were seized from Zurmi, Duran, and Gusau Metropolis in Zamfara State on April 22, 2024, and were saved on June 27, 2024, in Shinkafi and Tsafe Local Government Areas.
The victims, eight males and eight females in total, were handed over to state officials by the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu. The National Counter-Terrorism Centre’s Head of Strategic Communications, Abu Michael, mentioned that the operation reflects the Federal Government’s dedication to Nigerians’ safety.
The NSA highlighted the government’s commitment to eradicating kidnapping and criminal activities. He emphasized the importance of citizens’ support for security agencies in achieving the country’s security goals and ensuring a secure society.
Ribadu also stated that efforts were underway to eliminate uncontrolled areas used by criminals. Major General Adamu Laka, the National Coordinator of the NCTC, emphasized the need for individuals to report suspicious behavior promptly to enhance security.
In a separate incident, 22 students and staff from the Federal University Gusau, Zamfara State, were successfully rescued a few weeks ago through collaborative security agency efforts coordinated by the NCTC.
