After a a middle-aged man was murdered in a community in Ondo State, the state police command has launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the homicide.
According to some residents of Akungba-Akoko, in the Akoko Southwest local government area of the state where the incident happened, the spouse of the deceased, Oluwakemi Omolara, has been fingered as the suspect behind the death of her husband.
Omolara was accused of using a pestle to hit Jaimu on his neck following an argument over infidelity on the part of the deceased.
However, when contacted over the development, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Olufunmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, stated that the deceased’s wife was the one who reported the demise of her husband at the police station.
Odunlami stated that the woman had reported that some people killed her husband at midnight on Saturday.
Odunlami, who could not confirm the allegation that the wife murdered the deceased, insisted that no arrest had been made over the development.
“I can’t confirm that the victim’s wife killed him because it was the woman who reported the matter at the police station.
“We have not made any arrests now, but an investigation has begun into the incident.”
