Panic As Gunmen Storm Residence Of 58-Year-Old Mother, Kill Her In Gombe

A 58-year-old woman, Mrs. Aishatu Abdulahi, has been killed by gunmen on Saturday.

They stormed her residence at Jekadafari area of Gombe around 9pm to kill her. 

Gombe Police Public Relations Officer PPRO, ASP Mahid Mua’zu, who confirmed the incident in a statement, said the perpetrators stormed Mrs. Abdullahi’s residence at Jekadafari Quarters in Gombe at approximately 21:45hrs and gruesomely slaughtered her before fleeing with her handset.

Mua’zu said the Commissioner of Police in charge of the Operations Department Gombe State Command,  CP Hayatu Usman on behalf of the Commissioner of Police Gombe State Command has ordered the Assistant Commissioner of Police Criminal Investigation Department to personally investigate the savage murder of Aishatu Abdullahi.

“On receipt of the information, Police operatives moved to the scene where Mrs. Abdullahi was found in a pool of blood and was immediately rushed to the Specialist Hospital, where she was sadly pronounced dead.

“The Gombe State Police Command has expressed shock and dismay at the heinous crime and has pledged to do everything in its power to bring the perpetrators to justice. The Command has launched a full-scale investigation to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the incident and identify those responsible for the brutal murder,” he said.

The Command extends its heartfelt condolences to the family of Aishatu Abdullahi and we want to assure the public that we are doing everything possible to apprehend the perpetrators of this heinous crime and bring them to justice. We urge anyone with information that could lead us in our investigation to come forward and give us the information,” he added. 

The Command urged residents to remain calm, vigilant and report any suspicious activities or individuals to the Police.

Mua’zu also encourages members of the public to cooperate fully with the police as they carry out their investigation saying without the support we may not get to the roots of these problems because some of these criminals are from within the community being terrorized.

“We are committed to maintaining law and order in the State and will not rest until those responsible for this senseless act of violence are brought to justice. The Command wishes to remind the general public that the movement restriction earlier imposed is still in place and also the Okada and Keke Napep riders are encouraged to help the Police with information,” he said.

Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya condemned the gruesome murder and directed security operatives to track down the culprits. 

Yahaya, in a statement by his Director General, Press Affairs, Malam Ismaila Uba Misilli described the incident as a mindless act.  

The Governor directed the Police and other relevant security agencies in the state to mobilise  investigative assets and ensure that the perpetrators of the heinous crime are brought to justice.

He vowed that Gombe State, under his watch, will continue to maintain a steadfast commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all its citizens. 

“We have a zero-tolerance policy towards criminal activities, and this incident only strengthens our resolve to uphold the peace and security that our state is known for.

” I want to make it abundantly clear that there will be no escape from justice for those responsible for this vile and vicious act. Our security agencies are directed to leave no stone unturned to track down the culprits to account for their heinous action. 

He conveyed the deepest condolences of the government and people of Gombe State to the bereaved family.  

“The details of this incident, as preliminarily reported by the police, are nothing short of horrifying as a dark stain. Our hearts bleed for the bereaved family, who are grappling with an unimaginable loss, and for the Jekadafari community as well as the entire citizens, who are now scarred by the traumatic aftermath of this tragic event”. 

The Governor called on the people of the state to remain calm vigilant in the face of any threat to our collective security, vowing that Gombe State will not waver in its commitment to preserving the peace and tranquility that it holds so dear.
