Lere Olayinka, the spokesperson for the Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike, has disclosed the outstanding debt of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the FCT Authority.

This announcement comes after the PDP National Secretariat was closed.

Olayinka stated that Wadata Plaza, where the PDP National Secretariat is situated in Wuse Zone 5, has accumulated a ground rent debt of N7,603,504.31 owed to the FCTA.

In his remarks on X, Olayinka pointed out that this amount has built up over 28 years due to non-payment.

He questioned how the former ruling party has failed to gather this amount despite considerable revenue from form sales.

Olayinka wrote: “GROUND RENT and the PDP Secretariat.

“Regarding Wadata Plaza, where the PDP National Secretariat operates, there is an outstanding ground rent of N7,603,504.31 for 28 years.

“Notably, I paid N2.7m for the PDP Nomination Form for the House of Representatives in 2022.

“In my constituency, three of us aspirants each contributed N2.7m, totaling N8.1m.”

On Monday, FCTA officials sealed the building due to unpaid ground rent.

On March 18, 2025, the FCTA annulled 4,794 land titles in the Central Area, Garki I and II, Wuse I and II, Asokoro, Maitama, and Guzape districts.

These properties were part of a total of 8,375 titles whose owners neglected to pay ground rent for 43 years.

The building that houses the PDP secretariat is included among these revoked properties.
