The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, is deeply saddened by the passing of two distinguished Senior Police Officers, AIG Philip Sule Maku (rtd.), and CP Abdulwaheed Ayilara.
Their departure has left an enduring impact on all those whose lives they touched during their service.
In a statement from the Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, it was disclosed that retired AIG Philip Sule Maku, who had previously served as Commissioner of Police in Bauchi and Ebonyi States before retiring as the Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Department of Information, and Communication Technology (ICT), passed away on August 23, 2024.
The police further confirmed that CP Abdulwaheed Ayilara, who held various roles in the nation including DCP State Criminal Investigations Department, Lagos State, and later as the Commissioner of Police in charge of Akwa Ibom State, succumbed to a brief illness on August 28.
“The dedication to service and integrity shown by these senior police officers will always be remembered. Their loss is deeply felt not only by their families but by the entire Nigeria Police Force,” the statement said.
“The legacy they leave behind and the lives they influenced during their careers will always be cherished by all who knew them.
“The IGP, on behalf of the entire Nigeria Police Force, expresses heartfelt condolences to the families, friends, and colleagues of the late Rtd. AIG Philip Sule Maku, fwc, and CP Abdulwaheed Ayilara, praying for comfort in this challenging time. May their souls rest in peace,” the statement concluded.
