Police Confirms Arrest Of Dismissed Officers Involved In Hijacking Petrol (via Primetweets)

Authorities Apprehend Dismissed Officers Linked to Petrol Tanker Hijacking

The Nigeria Police Force has confirmed the arrest of former police officers allegedly involved in the hijacking of a DAF SF Truck carrying 40,000 litres of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) on May 29, 2024, along the Ohodo-Opi Road in Igbo-Etiti LGA.

These suspects had been dismissed from the police force prior to their arrest.

Following a detailed operation, the culprits were captured, leading to the rescue of the hijacked driver and motor boy. The individuals apprehended include ex-Inspector Otache Egbe, ex-Inspector Abah Solomon, and ex-Sergeant James Mamah, all arrested in Anambra state.

Speaking to the press, Police Force spokesperson ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi confirmed the recovery of crucial evidence such as two AK-47 rifles, 105 rounds of ammunition, and various security uniforms as a result of the investigation.



“The police remain committed to eliminating criminal elements regardless of their prior connections. The arrested suspects have admitted to their actions and are currently being investigated by the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) with efforts underway to recover the stolen PMS. Legal proceedings against the suspects are imminent.”

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has reiterated the Police Force’s determination to collaborate with all stakeholders in the fight against crime. He has issued a stern warning to individuals involved in criminal behavior, emphasizing that they will face justice. The public is urged to assist law enforcement in maintaining safety and security nationwide.”
