Authorities in Akwa Ibom State have apprehended six individuals suspected of involvement in drug dealing and cult activities. The suspects, identified as Kufre Godwin Okon, Uko Monday Edet, Cyril Michael, Gabriel Effiong, Joseph Effiong Okon, and Udofia Emmanuel Udofia, were arrested in a crackdown on illegal activities in the Afaha Offiong community of Nsit Ibom Local Government Area.
The State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Timfon John, announced the arrests on Monday, confirming that all the suspects were male. She praised the successful operation conducted by police personnel under the direction of Commissioner of Police Waheed Ayilara, based on intelligence received.
John emphasized, “The Akwa Ibom State Police Command, in its ongoing efforts to enhance safety and security, conducted a raid on a criminal hideout in the Afaha Offiong community. This action was prompted by information gathered by the Command about illicit activities in the area.”
She added, “Investigations are ongoing to capture other members of the criminal group who may have fled.”
The police operation also resulted in the seizure of two bags containing substances believed to be Indian hemp, cocaine, and various mixed concoctions.
“Commissioner of Police Akwa Ibom State Command, CP Waheed Ayilara, reiterated the commitment of the police force to eradicating criminal elements from the state. Residents are encouraged to report any suspicious individuals or activities to the nearest police station to assist in maintaining safety and security.” John concluded.
