The police in Yobe State carried out an operation in Kasda hamlet in Jakusko local government area to root out members of a well-known kidnapping gang.
As reported by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Dungus Abdulkarim, the operation was prompted by a tip-off that led to the rescue of a victim abducted from Zaki LGA of Bauchi State. Two suspects were apprehended, and two AK-47 rifles with 26 rounds of ammunition were recovered.
The arrested kidnappers, Adamu Dimdo, 23, and Idi Dimdo, 25, admitted during questioning that the main suspect, Babawuro Audu, 45, a notorious supplier of firearms and the mastermind behind numerous kidnapping, abductions, and robberies in Yobe and nearby states, is still at large.
Efforts are underway to capture Babawuro, as stated in the report.
In a separate incident, another member of the syndicate, Yau Audu (also known as Chindo), was apprehended on June 30, 2024, at a market in Garin Alkali while engaging in transactions using proceeds from criminal activities, including livestock.
The case is presently being investigated by the State CID, and the suspects will soon appear in court.
The police are urging the public to provide any relevant information that could lead to the arrest of the fugitive syndicate member.
