President Tinubu Leads Federal Executive Council Meeting at Aso Villa
President Bola Tinubu is currently leading the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting at the Aso Villa Council Chamber in Abuja.
This gathering is a crucial platform to discuss national policies and initiatives.
Following a productive two-day meeting held last month, where about 20 policies and projects were approved to enhance Nigeria’s development in various sectors, the current session aims to further these discussions with new memoranda on the agenda.
The meeting is attended by key figures such as George Akume, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation; Femi Gbajabiamila, the President’s Chief of Staff; and Folashade Yemi Esan, the Head of Service.
Most ministers are also present, emphasizing the significance of the session.
On August 28, 2023, President Tinubu inaugurated the FEC and shifted the meeting day from Wednesdays to Mondays.
On October 16, 2023, Information Minister Mohammed Idris disclosed that the council would now convene only when there are substantial memoranda to review, ensuring meetings are purposeful and yield results.
Idris stated, “The President has approved that the Federal Executive Council meeting will now be happening on Mondays as against the traditional Wednesdays that we are used to.
“So FEC meetings have been moved to Mondays. Of course, that does not mean that it has to happen every week. If there are no issues to discuss, it will be skipped to next week.”
However, the reason for holding the ongoing FEC meeting on a Tuesday has not been provided.
