Recent Attack on Borno Community Leaves Four Farmers Dead

Terrorists Kill Four Farmers In Fresh Attack On Borno Community (via Primetweets)

Suspected Boko Haram terrorists have taken the lives of four farmers in Kirawa, a community in Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State. Kirawa, located near the Mandara mountains bordering Cameroon, is a known hiding place for the terrorists.

The attack happened in the evening while the farmers were tending to their fields. Bukar Umar Aji, the Councilor of Kirawa Jimini Ward and Speaker of the Gwoza Local Government Council, confirmed the tragic incident and called for increased security measures to protect the local residents.

Boko Haram has been targeting farmers, herders, and loggers, accusing them of collaborating with the Nigerian military. They have also been conducting raids on herding communities to steal cattle, which serves as a valuable resource for funding their activities.

Recent attacks by the terrorist group have resulted in significant casualties, such as the killing of over 60 farmers in Rann in 2022 and at least 43 farmers in Zabarmari in 2020.

Boko Haram and its faction, the Islamic State West Africa Province, have intensified their violent activities in the region. Despite the Nigerian Army’s claims of success in combating the insurgency, the group continues to pose a significant threat and has caused widespread devastation and displacement in several states.
