Tragedy struck the Agu-Amede autonomous community in Eha-Amufu, Isi-Uzo Local Government Area of Enugu State, as a farmer named Francis Odoh was killed by perpetrators believed to be herdsmen.
The unfortunate event took place close to Odoh’s farm on a Tuesday, reigniting fear and anxiety in the community plagued by previous attacks.
Video footage following the incident depicted distraught residents at the deceased’s residence.
Chief Ogenyi Odo, a community leader, expressed suspicions that the Fulani herdsmen were responsible for the brutal murder, linking it to previous attacks to occupy their land.
Efforts by SaharaReporters to contact the Enugu State Police Command for comments were unsuccessful at the time of reporting.
In a prior attack on Tuesday, January 23, 2024, the village of Imamamaru in Agu-Amede was assaulted by armed men suspected to be herdsmen, resulting in casualties and property destruction.
A similar incident at Isiado village had occurred days earlier, prompting residents to flee their homes.
