Return Ondo State Property or Face Legal Consequences
The government of Ondo State has demanded that individuals possessing state property return these assets immediately.
This directive comes after a significant number of government assets have reportedly fallen into private hands, one year following the death of former Governor Rotimi Akeredolu.
Mr. Kayode Ajulo, the state’s Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, stated that those unlawfully holding government property should comply with the order without delay.
In his announcement made in Akure, the state capital, he warned that failure to return the property could lead to legal repercussions.
According to Ajulo, “A significant number of state assets have been wrongfully acquired over the past year, which is completely unacceptable.”
“As we look back on the previous year’s governance under Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, it is clear that this issue must be addressed. We cannot allow this to continue.”
“As the state’s chief legal officer, it is my duty to uphold the constitution and ensure accountability within our law enforcement and regulatory bodies.”
Ajulo also raised concerns about efforts to suppress important information from Aiyedatiwa, indicating that intimidation and false accusations against the governor and his cabinet will not be accepted.
He noted, “Only those with wrongful actions should be worried.”
The Attorney General alleged that the Aiyedatiwa administration faces challenges when probing questions arise, with some factions accusing the governor of disrespecting Akeredolu’s legacy and his family. He remarked, “Some individuals have resorted to media slander while failing to justify their reactions.”
“Governor Akeredolu would not have permitted such misuse of state resources,” he emphasized.
The Commissioner urged anyone involved in the illegal transfer of assets to come forward voluntarily or confront serious legal action.
He has also advocated for a thorough audit of state assets to ensure “transparency and proper utilization of public resources for the benefit of all citizens of Ondo State.”
