Controversial musician Speed Darlington has issued a challenge to the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP).
This follows his refusal to comply with their request for him to appear.
Not long ago, the agency announced that Speed Darlington was wanted due to allegations of rape, cyberbullying, and cyberstalking.
The situation escalated after the artist admitted in an Instagram video that he had relations with a 15-year-old girl.
In a recent clip posted to his Instagram on Monday, the artist asserted that he would not report for questioning.
Challenging NAPTIP to provide proof of any wrongdoing, he also threatened to file a defamation lawsuit against the agency.
“NAPTIP, pay attention; I want you to take down all those wanted posters you’ve been spreading. I’m not showing up. Did you hear that? Not coming.
“I haven’t done anything illegal; all I did was speak. Irresponsible speech isn’t a crime. Where’s your proof? Who is your accuser? You want to use my name for social media fame. Look at us, we’re doing our job, summoning a celebrity and he showed up.
“I also belong here; I understand the psychological tactics you’re trying to play with my name. I charge N2.5 million for appearances, so you’ll need to pay me that plus travel costs for me and my assistant, since I see this NAPTIP invite as an appearance. I’m confident you have no proof; there’s no crime here, I was simply trying to gain attention. So my attendance would be pointless.
“You’re reacting because people tagged you to act against me. Now you want to demonstrate to Nigerians that you’re an effective agency. Are you pursuing me for speaking out? What kind of cyberstalking is that? Who did I stalk? Did I mention anyone’s name in the video?
“Sleeping with a 15-year-old girl, is that a crime? Where’s the proof? Remove me from your list. Honestly, I’m considering suing you for defamation and for tarnishing my name since you have no evidence.”
