A recent rescue operation by the Katsina State Police Command in Jibia Local Government Area resulted in the successful rescue of a woman.
The police thwarted an attempted abduction by engaging the criminals in a gunfight.
According to a statement by the command’s spokesperson, ASP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, the incident occurred on Thursday, August 29, 2024.
The statement highlighted the efforts of the command under the leadership of Commissioner of Police, Katsina Command, CP Aliyu Abubakar Musa, in preventing a bandit attack on Faru village, Jibia LGA, Katsina state.
Following a distress call received at the Jibia Divisional Police Headquarters about a bandit attack on Faru village and the kidnapping of an individual, a swift response was initiated.
A joint team comprising of police operatives, members of the Katsina State Community Watch Corps (KSCWC), and vigilantes, led by the DPO Jibia, engaged the assailants. The kidnapped victim was rescued unharmed as the attackers fled with gunshot wounds.
The Commissioner of Police applauded the professionalism and courage of the operatives involved and urged them to continue combating crimes like kidnapping and banditry to enhance security in Katsina State.
