During Star Wars Celebration 2022, it was announced that the previously revealed show Tales of the Jedi will be a series of six animated shorts that revolve around iconic Star Wars Jedi from the prequel era.

Animation producer Dave Filoni confirmed that Tales of the Jedi would include additional adventures featuring characters like Ahsoka Tano and Count Dooku. Filoni continued, saying that “some of these are dark,” and that there would be three episodes about Dooku’s fall to the Dark Side and three about Ahsoka, each following her at different points of her life.
Photos from the event show Count Dooku as a Jedi in the modern Clone Wars style, as well as a young Qui-Gon Jinn, assumedly from his time as Dooku’s apprentice. It was confirmed that Liam Neeson would return to voice Jinn, while Neeson’s son will voice the younger version of the Jedi Master. Kevin Kiner, who composed the music for the Clone Wars series, Rebels, and The Bad Batch, will be composing the score for Tales of the Jedi.

The first episode of the series was shown to attendees, and was focused on Ahsoka’s relationship with her mother prior to becoming a Jedi. Filoni said it started as the story of Jedi Master Plo Koon finding Ahsoka, but evolved into a story featuring a mother-daughter dynamic. Ahsoka’s mother is voiced by Janina Gavankar, who also played Iden Versio in 2017’s Star Wars Battlefront II.
