The Lagos State Police have apprehended Gbolahan Osinusi, a 42-year-old teacher, for the alleged repeated r@pe of a then 12-year-old girl, now 17, under his guardianship.
Osinusi reportedly took the girl to a nurse, Mariam Fatolu, for abortion medications whenever she became pregnant, according to the police.
SP Hundeyin highlighted that Osinusi compelled the victim to promise not to disclose the abuse, implying dire consequences if she did.
On October 16, Osinusi faced charges in court, and Fatolu is receiving medical treatment at General Hospital Ketu-Epe.
“The investigation began on September 30, 2024, around 3 PM, when a case of defilement and abortion was referred from Festac Division to the Gender Unit of the Lagos State Police Command in Ikeja,” the statement explained.
“The victim brought forth claims that Gbolahan Osinusi, a teacher and guardian, had been exploiting her sexually from the age of 12 until December 2023, when she was 17.”
“She also reported that he threatened her life if she disclosed the abuse and frequently took her to Mariam Fatolu for abortion drugs whenever she became pregnant, leading to the complaint.”
“Gbolahan Osinusi was charged on October 16, 2024, while Mariam Fatolu is currently hospitalized and will face charges in court soon.”
