An Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court has placed a 13-year-old boy in a correctional facility following allegations of sexually assaulting a two-year-old girl.
The boy faces a charge of defilement, to which he has pleaded not guilty.
Magistrate Mrs. Ejiro Kubeinje ordered the teenager to be held at the Oregun correctional centre after accepting his plea.
The magistrate denied the bail request made by the defendant and directed that the case file be sent to the DPP for legal guidance.
The next court session is scheduled for December 19 for further discussion.
Prosecutor Insp. John Iberedem informed the court that the alleged incident took place on September 23 at around 8:25 p.m., in Ayodele Musa, Unity Estate, Egbeda, Lagos.
This alleged act violates Section 210 (8) of the Child’s Rights Law of Lagos, 2015.
