In today’s society, faith is frequently dismissed as something irrational and associated with the weak and simple-minded, according to the new pontiff’s message to followers.

Pope Leo XIV has encouraged Christians to hold on to their faith.

During his inaugural mass on Friday, he highlighted the serious repercussions of losing one’s faith.

He pointed out that the loss of faith can lead to a sense of life’s meaning slipping away, a decline in compassion, and a severe violation of human dignity.

“The challenges facing families and numerous societal issues are significantly tied to this crisis,” he remarked.

The new pontiff noted that faith is often seen today as illogical or something associated with the weak and less intelligent.

He explained that many people substitute faith with pursuits like technology, wealth, ambition, and pleasure.

Pope Leo XIV also emphasized that the portrayal of Jesus Christ is often reduced to that of a mere charismatic figure or extraordinary person.

This, he indicated, aligns closely with atheistic beliefs.

“I am confident that each of you will join me as we move forward as a Church, united as friends of Jesus and believers, sharing the Good News and the teachings of the Gospel,” the pope, originally from Chicago, stated.
