The High Note trailer: Dakota Johnson leads ensemble music comedy
Focus Features has debuted the first trailer for the upcoming musical comedy The High Note, formerly titled Covers, featuring an ensemble cast led by Dakota Johnson (The Peanut Butter Falcon) and Tracee Ellis Ross (Black-ish). The trailer can be viewed in the player below!

The ensemble cast, led by Johnson and Ross, also stars Kelvin Harrison Jr. (It Comes at Night), Zoë Chao (Where’d You Go, Bernadette), Ice Cube (XXX: Return of Xander Cage), June Diane Raphael (Long Shot), Deniz Adkeniz (Once Upon a Time), Bill Pullman (The Sinner), Eddie Izzard (The Lego Batman Movie) and Diplo.
Nisha Ganatra, who made a huge impression with the comedy Late Night at the Sundance Film Festival, is directing the pic from a screenplay by Flora Greeson. Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner will serve as producers, while executive producer duties will be held by Alexandra Loewy.
Raphael, who made a name for herself on the small screen with roles in the hit comedy series NTSF: SD: SUV::, New Girl and Grace and Frankie and has recently landed supporting roles in the acclaimed biopic comedy The Disaster Artist, teen comedy Blockers (purchase it here) and romantic comedy Long Shot.

Cube is also in negotiations to star in The Killer’s Game alongside Dave Bautista (Guardians of the Galaxy). The film is an adaptation of the Jay Bonansinga novel of the same name about a hitman (played by Bautista) with a terminal disease who puts a bounty on his head as a means of ending his life. Once he finds out he was misdiagnosed, however, the hitman must protect himself and the woman he loves from ruthless assassins, led by Ice Cube.
The High Note is set to hit theaters on May 8!
