Gov Godwin Obaseki

Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State has declared that the upcoming gubernatorial election on September 21 is critical and has termed it a ‘do-or-die affair’.

He emphasized that any attempts at electoral fraud by the rival party could have severe consequences.

These remarks were made at a rally for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) held in Ekemwan.

“The previous governor neglected our people, showed no regard for women, and promoted issues like prostitution and human trafficking,” he stated.

“When I assumed office, pensioners expressed their distress by wearing black on Labour Day, but now they proudly wear white.”

“When I started, our youth faced unemployment, but today many have jobs. Isn’t Edo now considered one of the safest states in Nigeria after eight years?”

“This election is vital; it is a matter of life and death. If they attempt anything, we will not back down. Next Saturday, please vote for the PDP to secure the governorship.”

The elections in Edo State are set for Saturday, September 21, where voters will choose their next governor.

The leading candidates are Asue Ighodalo from the PDP, Monday Okpebholo from the All Progressives Congress (APC), and Olumide Akpata representing the Labour Party (LP).
