Shehu Sani Remarks on Nigeria’s Development
On Nigeria’s 64th independence anniversary, former senator Shehu Sani expressed concern that other British colonies are advancing while Nigeria struggles.
Sani shared his thoughts on X, drawing parallels between Nigeria’s colonial history and that of other nations.
He noted that while non-African British colonies have effectively harnessed their diverse backgrounds to foster progress, Nigeria remains caught in a cycle of blaming its colonial past.
“The British united us as Nigeria, much like other colonizers did in Africa, the Americas, and Asia,” he stated.
“Even countries like the US and Canada emerged from British, French, and Spanish colonialism.”
“The key difference is that they have moved beyond blaming their colonial histories; instead, they utilize their diversity to advance their nations, facing challenges head-on,” he emphasized in his tweet.
