Suzette Quintanilla Arriaga remembers her sister Selena Quintanilla-Pérez fondly. “Selena and I rarely fought,” Quintanilla Arriaga said in an interview on Power 106’s The Cruz Show (via Hip Latina). “I know I am a lot bigger than her so we never fought about clothes or shoes or stuff like that. Most sisters argue about stuff like that.”

On Nov. 3, 2017, Selena was given a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. According to USA Today, the star was placed in front of the Capitol Records’ building, a place of significance for the singer and her family band, Selena y Los Dinos, since it was a place they visited often after signing with EMI Latin back in 1989.

Quintanilla Arriaga was asked to come help build the star ahead of the ceremony. “They don’t give this honor to everyone, so I’m beyond honored to be able to participate in the making of it, priceless,” she said in a Facebook post (via The Caller Times).

The Hollywood event had a record-breaking 4,500 fans attend and Quintanilla Arriaga was thrilled that her late sister’s legacy was being discovered by a new generation.

“(Latinos) we are here to stay and Selena is a perfect example that we can succeed as long as we put in hard work,” Quintanilla Arriaga said at the ceremony according to USA Today. “Selena said the goal isn’t to live forever but to create something that will and tonight is a perfect testament of that.”
