President Bola Tinubu has made significant leadership changes at the South East Development Commission (SEDC), appointing Emeka Nworgu as the new Chairman in place of Hon. Emeka Atuma.
Onanuga’s statement indicated that all three executive directors who were initially appointed have been replaced, and two additional executive directors have been named.
The announcement confirmed the removal of board member Donatus Eyinnah Nwankpa.
Hon Mark C. Okoye continues as the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the 16-member board, which now includes one more member than before.
Stanley Ohajuruka has been appointed as the new executive director for finance, succeeding Anthony Ugbo from the first list of appointees.
Toby Okechukwu is now the executive director of projects, taking the place of Obinna Obiekweihe. Meanwhile, Chief Sylvester Okonkwo steps in as the executive director of corporate services, replacing Dr. Daniel Ikechukwu Ugwuja.
Two additional executive directors, Chidi Echeazu and Clifford Ogbede, have been nominated but do not have specific portfolios assigned.
Retained in their positions are Barr. Ugochukwu H. Agballah, Hon. Okey Ezenwa, Chief Hyacinth Ikpor, Barr. Ifeanyi Agwu, Nasiru Usman, and Hamma Adama Ali Kumo.
The nominees who will also retain their positions include Edward David Onoja, Orure Kufre Inima, and Joke Adebayo-Chukwuma.
All of these nominations are pending Senate confirmation.
Onanuga expressed that President Tinubu anticipates that the new appointees will leverage their expertise to fulfill the Commission’s mission and foster development in the Southeast region.
