A heartbreaking incident occurred in Enugu State on the morning of December 27, claiming the life of a 15-year-old boy.
Reports from SaharaReporters indicate that the accident took place around 8:30 am near the Nwanne Di N’mba Housing Estate, involving a construction company’s large truck that struck the young pedestrian.
Witnesses noted that the boy had just returned from church and was purchasing food at a Mobil Filling Station along the Enugu-Abakaliki Road at the time of the tragedy.
Conflicting explanations arose from those who saw the accident unfold; some suggested the truck driver may have dozed off, while others believed the truck lost control due to a Sienna vehicle making a sudden maneuver.
The pedestrian was hit by the truck, which resulted in his instant death, while three other individuals were critically injured.
“He had bought Okpa as requested by his parents and was on his way home when this tragic event occurred. He was walking on the sidewalk when the truck hit him,” a witness recounted to SaharaReporters. “His brother and two others narrowly escaped. They were taken to the hospital, and the police have moved the deceased to the mortuary.”
This tragic event has left the local community in grief, prompting an investigation into what led to the accident.
