Tragic Celebration: Police Promotion Celebration Turns Fatal in Ekiti

A police officer, whose identity has not yet been disclosed, accidentally discharged his weapon while celebrating his promotion at the Okela Police Station, tragically striking a woman in the vicinity.

 

Ifeoluwa Adekalu, a young woman from Nigeria, has tragically lost her life due to a shooting by a police officer.

This incident occurred in Ado Ekiti, the capital of Ekiti State, at the Okela Police Station on Thursday, January 2. Ifeoluwa was hit by bullets that were accidentally fired from the gun of a police officer during his celebratory moments upon hearing about his promotion.

Details regarding where the incident took place remain unclear. Reports indicate that Ifeoluwa, a mother of one, was either near a salon across from the police station or visiting her husband who was detained at the police station at the time.

She was quickly taken to a nearby hospital but unfortunately succumbed to her injuries from the gunshot.

AIG Adewale Adeniran has verified the incident and stated that the officer involved has been disarmed and taken into custody.
