A tragic incident occurred in Ondo State involving a 28-year-old man who was reportedly under the influence of illicit drugs. He lost his life after coming into contact with a live electrical wire.

Funmilayo Odunlami, the spokesperson for the Ondo State Police Command, shared details on December 6, 2024. According to her, the individual climbed a fence while impaired by drugs and was electrocuted after touching the live wire.

Odunlami emphasized the importance of avoiding drug abuse among the youth in the region. She referenced the song “Se Normal” by Esther Igbekele as a source of motivation for those struggling with substance use, urging them to stay focused and not let drugs derail their futures.

“It is heartbreaking to witness some of our youth ignoring the plea to ‘Se Normal’. This tragic event serves as a stark reminder; a young man of 28, presumed to have used hard drugs, climbed a fence, touched a live wire, and sadly faced the consequence. May he rest in peace. Avoid becoming a statistic – choose to ‘Se Normal’.”
