Tragic Drowning Incident in Lagos-Ogun Border Area
A tragic incident has been reported involving a 45-year-old man named Kazeem, who drowned in a river located in Odo Tente, a border area between Lagos and Ogun states.
The accident took place on a Friday at approximately 11 am, shortly after Kazeem reportedly consumed a narcotic substance believed to be Colorado.
Witnesses indicated that he displayed erratic behavior due to the drug, which led him to leap into the river.
The statement released by SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, confirmed the details of the situation on Sunday.
“On 11/10/2024 at around 11 am, a report was made at the Alagbado Division regarding Kazeem, a 45-year-old male, who, influenced by a hard drug, ran uncontrollably and jumped into a river at Odo Tente, leading to his drowning,” the statement explained.
The police spokesperson also mentioned that officers from the Alagbado Division went to the location to gather evidence and document the scene.
Kazeem’s father requested that the body be buried immediately by the river in line with their cultural practices. However, the police have initiated an inquiry into the events surrounding the incident.
