Heartbreaking scenes unfolded in Onitsha as the remains of ABK Offiah, a close aide to Anambra’s Commissioner for Youths Development Patrick Aghamba, were transported back to the city. Offiah tragically lost his life while traveling to Abuja with Aghamba and his wife. During an attack by armed assailants, Offiah was fatally shot while the commissioner and his wife were abducted.
Offiah, a respected lawyer hailing from Onitsha who also served as a youth leader and held the title of Kpajiego, was mourned by many as the ambulance carrying his body arrived in Onitsha, with residents expressing their sorrow through tears and loud cries.
Meanwhile, there is some relief as it was reported that Aghamba and his wife were freed by their captors on Saturday night. The circumstances of their release, including any potential ransom payment, remain undisclosed.
