Tragic Incident of Two People Struck by Lightning in Delta Community

An unfortunate incident occurred in the Issele-Azagba community in Aniocha North Local Government Area of Delta State where two individuals were struck and killed by lightning, while another person was hospitalized.

The incident took place on a rainy afternoon on Tuesday, July 2, 2024. A group of about 13 youths were playing a game at Osemeke Primary School field in the community around 6:30 pm when lightning struck, resulting in the tragic deaths of two individuals identified as Sunday and Lucky.

One of the deceased was a Point of Service (POS) operator. The third victim, whose condition was critical, was taken to a hospital in Asaba for treatment.

A local youth leader confirmed the incident the following day, expressing his condolences and praying for the souls of the deceased. He mentioned that the individuals were not from the local community but had been residing there for an extended period.

He further stated that most people were staying indoors due to the ongoing rainfall following the tragic event.
