A tragic incident occurred at Mom Sebonene Secondary School in Duduza, Tsakane, Gauteng, South Africa, resulting in the death of a 17-year-old student.
The student, identified as Naledi “Nalz” Nkosi, was poisoned on September 5, 2024, and succumbed to her injuries on September 9.
The Pan Africanist Students Organisation (PASO) released a statement on September 11, expressing profound sorrow over the incident and calling for a comprehensive investigation.
“We, the Pan Africanist Students Organisation (PASO), are heartbroken by the loss of Naledi Nkosi ‘Nalz,’ a prior student of Mamellong Comprehensive School and a current grade 10 student at MOM SEBONI Secondary School in Duduza. Our condolences go out to her family, friends, and the wider student community during this challenging period.
“We denounce the poisoning incident that led to her tragic passing and strongly advocate for a detailed inquiry into the events that caused her death. No student should encounter harm or violence, particularly in an educational environment.
