Oyekunle Baaki, also known as Smart, a 27-year-old talented football player collapsed and passed away during a football game in Okeho, Oyo State.
Playing for United FC Okeho, Smart tragically died during a match against Accurate FC, Iganna in the Eleniyan football competition.
Reportedly, the unfortunate incident took place during extra time after the game ended in a draw at the end of regular play.
According to an eyewitness: “Prior to the match, he took photos with some players and shared them on Snapchat.”
“He collapsed without anyone around him. Despite efforts to assist him, he passed away before reaching the hospital.”
Mufideen Dallax, a local youth leader in Okeho expressed: “The sudden loss of Smart is devastating. He was known for his kindness and talent.”
“He was a bright prospect in soccer, but sadly, his potential has been cut short by death. He will be dearly missed. His funeral will take place today.”
