Yunusa Isa, aged 24, was taken into custody by the Yobe State Police for the murder of his business partner, Lawan Adamu, over an unpaid debt of N500,000.
Reports indicate that Lawan’s body was discovered with severe throat injuries and numerous stab wounds at the outskirts of Nayi Nawa bypass in Damaturu.
A bloodied knife was found at the crime scene.
DSP Dungus Abdulkarim, the police spokesperson, confirmed the incident in a statement released on Thursday, explaining that the suspect initially claimed he was not involved in the murder.
However, after thorough questioning by investigators from the State CID, he admitted to the murder.
“On September 16, 2024, Yunus Isa, 24, from Shago Tara in Nayi Nawa Ward, was arrested for allegedly killing Lawan Adamu,” the statement noted.
Initially, Yunus denied any involvement, but compelling evidence led to his confession.
“Investigations showed that Lawan Adamu was not only Yunus’ employer but also his partner in the engine oil business.
“He borrowed N500,000 from Adamu last year under a profit-sharing scheme.
“When he failed to adhere to the agreement, Adamu asked for repayment.
“In a desperate move to evade his debt, Isa coldly murdered Lawan Adamu.
“This case’s quick resolution underscores our dedication to ensuring justice and maintaining public safety.”
