Tragic Kidnapping Incident Claims Life of Woman
A tragic event unfolded in the Chikakore community, located in the Kubwa area of the Federal Capital Territory, as a housewife named Mrs. Esther Adesiyan was found dead following a kidnapping involving her husband, son, and two other individuals.
Her body was discovered in a bush close to the Itagbajii community in Niger State on the night of January 27, 2025.
On January 26, around 11:30 p.m., Mrs. Adesiyan, her husband Mr. Akinropo Adesiyan, their son Ifeoluwa, and a relative, Dr. Rauf Adekunle Adeniji, were taken from their home, along with a neighbor who worked at a nearby poultry farm.
The neighbor’s wife sustained injuries during the incident and was later taken to Kubwa General Hospital for medical attention.
Mr. Oluwafemi Adepoju, a colleague of Mrs. Adesiyan’s husband, recounted the grim discovery of her body during a conversation with the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Byazhin Police Station, Officer Michael Adah, who called him to the station early in the morning.
“When I arrived at the police station, the DPO informed me that we would be going to Niger State for me to identify a recovered body,” he stated.
“Upon reaching a general hospital near Dikko community, I confirmed that the body was indeed my boss’s wife.”
Adepoju further described that the police and local vigilante group, who were patrolling the area, reported hearing gunshots around 9 p.m. the previous evening near Itagbajii village.
“The victim was shot in the left side of her chest and showed signs of trauma all over her body,” he added.
According to Adepoju, the security team suggested that the abductors may have killed her because she could not keep pace during their grueling escape through the wilderness.
After the identification, the body was transported back to Abuja and placed in the Kubwa General Hospital.
SP Josephine Adeh, spokesperson for the FCT command, stated that they had not yet received formal notification regarding the recovery of the victim’s body.
She did verify the original abduction in an announcement made on Monday in Abuja, noting that a thorough search and rescue operation had commenced to secure the safe return of the victims and capture those responsible for this crime.
“We urge residents of the Chikakore community and the public to stay calm and alert. Any valuable information that could aid in the investigation and rescue efforts should be reported to the police immediately,” she expressed.
