In Rivers State, troops located and dismantled 3 illegal refining sites (IRS) at Odagwa in Etche Local Government Area (LGA) based on reliable information. Additionally, in Akaso field near Cawthorne channel, troops discovered One IRS, 3 receivers, and a network of connecting pipes used for transporting stolen crude to the IRS. Various other items found were seized and eliminated in accordance with the objectives of Operation DELTA SAFE in the Niger Delta region.
In a similar operation in Bayelsa State, Sector 2 troops encountered illicit activities during routine operations along Dasaba Creek in Nembe LGA, seizing over 12,000 liters of stolen and clandestinely refined products. Among the items recovered were One Fibre Boat, Five Ovens, numerous metal drums, and large storage tanks used for harboring these illegal products.
Commending the troops for their heightened determination, Major General Jamal Abdussalam, the General Officer Commanding of 6 Division, Nigerian Army, and Land Component Commander, urged them to intensify their efforts in thwarting the operations of these criminal elements in the Niger Delta region.
