Governor Fubara Urges Calm Amid Political Tension
Siminalayi Fubara, the Governor of Rivers State, has urged his supporters to stay composed in light of recent political debates, affirming that the time for serious political campaigning has not yet arrived.
He delivered this message at the 7th anniversary of Eze Cassidy Ikegbidi’s kingship, who transitioned from a politician to a traditional leader for the Akoh community in Ahoada East Local Government Area.
Fubara mentioned that the people will have clarity about the political landscape when the appropriate moment arrives, stating:
“Let’s not pay attention to the distractions being created. In due time, we will discern who holds true power.”
“There is no need for concern. It is by God’s guidance that we have progressed up to today, and with each passing day, our strength increases. We owe it all to God,” he emphasized.
“Our achievements are not due to our own capabilities or pride but are firmly rooted in divine strength. Thus, we should not be perturbed by external opinions. When the right time comes, the outcome will speak for itself,” he asserted.
The governor credited his ability to navigate political struggles to divine support, expressing confidence that his administration will persist in its growth despite opposition.
Additionally, he called on the Akoh community to foster peace, highlighting that sustainable development is only possible within a stable environment.
“Above all, it is essential that we maintain peace. Progress cannot reach your territory or the Ekpeye Ethnic Nationality without it. There will be attempts to incite discord among you. Strive to overcome such challenges,” he advised.
“Be aware of the tactics of disruptors: ‘Divide and Rule.’ Avoid any actions that could lead to conflict within this community so that we can demonstrate our commitment by implementing impactful projects for the Ekpeye people,” he added.
Governor Fubara also expressed gratitude to the traditional ruler for his continued support and contributions towards the achievements of his administration.
