Two Arrested in Police Officer’s Murder
Authorities have detained two individuals, Ezekiel Kefas (67) and Stephen Zabadi (44), for their alleged involvement in the homicide of Inspector Ibrahim Maizabuwa in Adamawa State.
The police officer was brutally murdered by assailants in Swa, located in the Lafiya Lamurde Local Government Area. Following an investigation, both suspects confessed to the crime and showed police where they had buried the victim in a shallow grave.
Inspector Maizabuwa was interred in Bambam town within the Dadiya Balanga LGA on November 25.
Kefas and Zabadi, residents of Wamsa Suwa Ward in Lamurde LGA, were taken into custody on November 19, 2024. This information was confirmed by State Police Command spokesperson, SP Suleiman Nguroje, who revealed that the deceased’s son, Danlami Ibrahim Maizabuwa, had reported the incident.
“Investigations indicate that the victim worked in Gombe State and had visited his friend, Ezekiel Kefas, in Wamsa Suwa, where the murder and burial occurred,” stated the police spokesperson.
During the investigation, Kefas claimed, “My friend caused a disturbance in my home, damaging property and attacking people, which led to women and children calling for help and thugs intervening. He was subsequently beaten to death. We later went looking for those responsible for the assault, but they were not at home.”
SP Nguroje noted that the state’s Commissioner of Police, Morris Dankombo, has mandated a thorough investigation and the prosecution of all individuals involved in this incident.
