As various states begin to try and slowly start reopening businesses and public places across the country, Universal Orlando Theme Park is looking to begin a phased reopening of the park beginning on June 5, according to Deadline.

The goal is to reopen the park for testing on June 1 and 2, with June 2 and 3 being devoted to opening the park to invited guests and some passholders, with a wide opening planned to the general public on June 5. Before they can move forward with their plan, the park must have it approved by the Orange County Economic Recovery Task Force and state officials, to whom they presented them to on Thursday.
Safety precautions in the park’s plan includes employees and park guests be required to wear masks, which the park is ready to provide if necessary, as well as taking the temperature of both groups. The Universal CityWalk, an adjacent shopping and dining complex, opened last week with a large group of customers flocking to the newly reopened businesses. Just yesterday, Walt Disney World opened its retail and dining area Disney Springs to the public but hasn’t yet announced a proposed date for when they hope to reopen the park itself, making Universal Orlando the first major theme park to announce a target date for reopening amidst the global pandemic.
Park guests and employees with temperatures at 100.4 degrees or higher will not be admitted entrance to the amusement park, which is also planning to limit capacity to ensure proper social distancing practices and have cashless payment options and staggering parking, as well as closing interactive play areas and eliminating water and mist elements on attractions and closing valet parking operations.
