Challenges in Marriage: Insights from Daniel Etim-Effiong
Nollywood star Daniel Etim-Effiong recently shared his experiences regarding the difficulties he faced in the initial phase of his marriage.
He struggled to adapt to his partner Toyosi’s confident demeanor, which he found overwhelming.
In a recent interview, he expressed, “I’m not accustomed to others voicing their opinions… Having an assertive wife felt chaotic. I sensed I was losing control over my marriage, questioning my role as a husband, which took a toll on my mental state.”
Additionally, he mentioned how his interactions with various women and his inability to establish clear boundaries exacerbated marital issues.
In admitting to having dealt with improper calls and relationships early in their marriage, he emphasized that learning to enforce boundaries eventually led to better understanding and peace.
“I faced challenges with women surrounding me and struggled with boundary setting, which left me feeling scattered. It was only later that I recognized the importance of setting limits, like addressing late-night calls from friends, which, though they might be acquaintances, was inappropriate given my marital status. This led to ongoing arguments,” he explained.
